Bio
Jesse Avshalomov is focused on building Growth Engines — combining the disciplines of product, data, psychology, experimentation, and systems thinking to engineer powerful, self-sustaining mechanisms of growth. What that looks like varies from startup to startup, but it always means discovering a startup’s unique advantages, and forging them into systems, practices, and automations that continuously drive new customers.
Today he leads Product as a co-founder of Medinas, a data driven exchange platform that helps large hospital systems monetize their surplus and short-date medical supplies.
Before that, he was was at Teespring (YC W13) where he built and led the Growth Team, a group that helped grow Teespring from thousands to millions of dollars in monthly revenue. Along the way they launched dozens of features, ran hundreds of experiments that affected millions of users, and served as a data-driven problem solving unit throughout the company.
Jesse has also advised at a handful of companies including Kickwheel, 7cups, Povio Labs, Elucify, Quizlet, 80,000 Hours, the Centre for Effective Altruism, and Covo, where he is also an investor.
In the time that led up to all that, Jesse led a brief career as an Opera Singer, spent time as a marketing technologist at AKQA and Apple, co-founded the a music licensing startup now known as Loudr, and invented International Beer Day as an experiment in virality gone horribly right.
